Tyler's Rocky Point Orchard Spray Record
Many people do not realize that without proper protection, fruits such as apples and cherries become nearly
100 percent infested by two principle pests. The Codling Moth in apples and the Western Cherry Fruit Fly
in Cherries.
We are pleased to announce that we are successfully untilizing a "reduced spray program" that started in 2007.
We continue to incorporate Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as the core of our control program.
IPM or Integrated Pest Management is the practice of trapping and montitoring pest populations, precise timing
of pesticide applications, and the addition of organically approved control methods such as using Isomate-C Plus
(phermone disruption) for Codling Moth, the apple worm on apples and GF 120 (a compound derived from soil bacterial)
on Cherries to control Western Cherry Fruit Fly, the cherry worm.
With the use of IPM, it is possible to reduce the number of coventional pesticide sprays necessary to control
these destructive pests.
